Plot Summary
Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Edward Norton (The Incredible Hulk, American History) and Colin Farrell (Miami Vice, Alexander) star in this crime thriller that blurs the line between morality and duty as it asks the question: What does it mean to be loyal? In New York City, a homicide detective is assigned to investigate the precinct run by his own brother, Francis (Noah Emmerich - Little Children, Cellular). Meanwhile, the investigator's best friend is a cop in that precinct who may be corrupt as well. The truth opens up a Pandora's Box that threatens not only the family legacy but the entire precinct. Also starring Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Jon Voight (Ali, Transformers) and directed by Gavin OConnor (Miracle, Tumbleweeds).

Rotten: Pride's only saving grace is Edward Norton, whose mere presence raises the level of a film several notches. But it's unclear why he lately has chosen such worn-out material.
Rotten: Pride and Glory is full of interesting little grace notes, and the cast is excellent, yet it grows more and more frustrating. It has everything going for it except a story that doesn't send the audience out miles ahead of the plot developments.
Rotten: What it lacks in subtlety and intelligence it makes up in violence, brutishness, and hackneyed story lines. These are qualities best enjoyed at home.
Rotten: There's nothing really wrong with Pride and Glory, apart from an excessive degree of brutality, but there's nothing terribly revelatory about it either.

Pride and Glory
Pride and Glory overall ranks to be a film that is indeed essentially a tragedy, not necessarily involving it's emotional story but within the making of the film as well. The films postives are undeniably outweighed by the negitives. The movie is inevidably well acted with noteworthy performances from Edward Norton, Colin Farrell and Jon Voight, and trully captures the downfall of a lower-middle class family; yet the film evidently makes a thieving effort to soil authority's image and does that job quite well. The screenplay and the overall storyline are the film's biggest weakness consisting an overuse of blunt vulgerism/curse words. Gavin O' Connor isn't necessarily a horrable director hense the films excellent portrayal of a collapsing family, yet potentially one of the most dissapointing screenwriters/story writers. Even though many consider the film's salvation is Edward Norton's performance (as I've mentioned before he hasn't starred in one film that I consider a dissapointment until now), I beg to differ as I've mentioned before on Voight and Farrell's performances. Overall the film from my perspective ranks to a considerable dissapointment, and proves that Gavin O' Connor should stick with sololy directing without his contribution to the screenplay.
Lies
this movie was excellent as far as performances go, but the story is kind of generic. it shows the spiraling fall of a family of cops and the effect it has on the community. there is not one person in this movie who's life does not bite. it is very depressing and dark, and frequently brutal. (in one scene, a baby is almost roasted with an iron) all in all though, it is definatley worth the watch.
AWFUL!
This movie was just awful! It was long and boring. I'm the kind of person that can sit through any movie no matter how tired i am, or how bad the movie is, but i literally could not stand to watch more than an hour of Pride and Glory. It didn't ever have that spark, or grabber, it just seemed like a drawn out episode of a cop show. DONT BUY IT!
