Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Here's a by-the-playbook movie if ever there was one. The machinations leading up to the big night are hardly worth the fuss: Prom's entertainment quotient comes up deficient.
Rotten: You certainly don't expect a Disney live-action movie to be ambitious or edgy, but you don't necessarily expect this degree of sloppiness either.
Rotten: It's a sweet, generic safe harbor for young kids, parents, and those teenagers who want to hide from the world for a couple of hours.
Rotten: A movie that's so anachronistically mushy and awkward, it earns extra credit simply for being so innocent.
Customer Reviews
Not as cheesy as some make it seem.
I'm 16, and I went to see this movie with my best friend. I loved it, it was one of the cutest movies ever. It had a good plot, and okay so what if the main character could be really annoying sometimes? The movie has substance, and what would 30 year olds know about this movie. Especially when it's directed towards kids, and teenagers. This move is something to watch to pick you up. Plus, the music in the movie is superb too artists like: Neon Trees, Band of Horses, and even some mainstream Taio Cruz I believe. This movie is great, Rotten Tomatoes doesn't know what they're talking about.
Best movie ever!!!
I saw this movie with a group of friends and it instantly became my new favorite movie. It truly is the best movie ever, you will not be dissapointed.
Horrific...
People are right it's not cheesy it's presumptuous and I feel like Disney just injected a Jimmy Hendrix sized dose of a brain rotting concoction into my head. Sad thing was I paid to rent it. False hopes and unrealistic themes. Would have earned two stars if they would have upped the dose and not played that dang firework song!!!
