Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A cheerfully chaotic jumble of fairy tale and nursery rhyme characters parachuted into a Spanish storybook setting.
Fresh: With his impeccable comic timing and lyrical Spanish accent, Banderas' swashbuckling charmer is an undeniable treat.
Rotten: Basically, this toon is a tired riff on Sergio Leone's spaghetti Westerns, punctuated by more puns and cat jokes than you can shake a litter box at.
Fresh: Almost shockingly good. And not just because a lot of you will approach it with lowered expectations.

A FUN, FUR-FLYING ADVENTURE!
Walking into the theatre to see "Puss In Boots", I was both excited and slightly apprehensive. Although I immediately fell in love with the character and personality of Puss (Antonio Banderas) when I first saw him in "Shrek 2", I was worried that the feline protagonist's first solo adventure would turn out to be a lukewarm disappointment like the last two "Shrek" films. Luckily, that wasn't the case with this action-packed thrill ride of a movie. While it doesn't quite reach the creative heights of the first two flicks in the "Shrek" franchise, "Puss" still has a whole lot to offer. From its whimsical fairy tale-based storyline to its eccentric cast of characters to its razor-sharp comedic timing, the film kept me entertained the whole way through. Even the action scenes are hilariously over-the-top and impeccably animated. There's ratting, high-speed chases, slick sword fights, and even a few easy-to-miss plot twists. And what would a Dreamworks Animation movie be without some clever visual gags and tongue-in-cheek verbal jokes? Yes, the humor in "Puss" is in full supply, but thankfully, the film doesn't go too overboard with it. If I had to point out some of the flick's faults, I'd only say that the pacing of the story can feel a bit rushed at times and that some of the characters aren't as developed as they could've been. For instance, it would've been nice to learn a little more about Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) and her past relationship with Puss, even though it was somewhat explained in the film. On a brighter note, the two of them end up sharing a strong chemistry together, especially on the dance floor. Surprisingly enough, it seemed that Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) was the only character besides Puss that had me both cracking up and feeling sorry for at times. But maybe I shouldn't get ahead of myself or else I might give too much information away. Overall, "Puss In Boots" is a spectacular animated film with plenty of wit, charm, and visual sparkle to spare. It may not be as deep or groundbreaking as any Pixar movie, but it's still a satisfying, fast-paced adventure with an excellent voice cast and, surprisingly enough, an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. Whether you're a kid or just young at heart, you'll find a lot to like in this delightful family-friendly romp!
Fantastic Sequel To Shrek!
We've all seen the "Shrek" movies, by bringing one of the most favorited characters "Puss" into his own movie made it completely fantastic! With the action of high-speed chases and sword fighting brings tons of action packed adventures into this unforgettable kid's film!
A+ for Puss In Boots!
I saw this movie w/ my friends and it was awesome. The scene when Puss In Boots was a kitten was the cutest scene ever.
