Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Quantum of Solace prompts the question: Is revenge the only possible motive for large-scale movie heroism these days?
Fresh: Quantum of Solace is best when director Marc Forster allows his star the latitude to explore emotions that, until Craig stepped into the shoes of the character, we didn't know Bond had.
Fresh: Quantum -- the 22d 'official' Bond picture, 24th including the rogue Bonds -- is never less than engaging.
Fresh: Hats off to Daniel Craig. Those attempting the next Hollywood video game adaptation would do well to take note.

Underrated!
People are giving this bond film too hard of a time for it's "lack of a plot". What people need to understand is that this movie is supposed to be a continuation of Casino Royale and that the plot of buying the worlds water is just a filler for the more meaningful plot of Bond getting sweet revenge on the organization that killed Vesper. Also, no matter what people say, Daniel Craig is the best bond EVER! Even better than- dare i say it- Sean Connery. When he is killing people with his bare hands it is believable, unlike Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, or Roger Moore. At the same time he can pull off the suave, sophistication and smooth-talking necessary for Bond. Lastly, people give this movie crap for being TOO action filled. Let me clue you in: the ORIGINAL Ian Fleming bond was a MERCENARY!!!! He was only made a "spy" in the movies because the first ones came out during the cold war and that was what people wanted to see. So don't complain about too much action. If you want Bond, you will get a lot of it. So, since the plot isn't incomplete, just an awesome continuation of Casino Royale, and since Daniel Craig is the best (and most believable) Bond EVER, and since they finally got Bond back to his roots as a mercenary, I give Quantum of Solace a 5 Star ratting. Two big thumbs up, A+, etc.
different, but good
"Casino Royale" made many changes to the 007 movie franchise, and most of these were for the better. It removed the ridiculous plotlines, gadgets and charicature villains that had become staples of the previous movies (which made them seem like science fiction more than anything else), and added a layer of gritty realism. "Quantum Of Solace", the sequel to "Casino Royale", has a different feel to it's predecessor, while at the same time retaining the grittiness. It is a very fast-paced movie, maybe too much so for some viewers. I didn't really see this as a bad thing; while I have nothing against a slower-paced movie if it is well made, "Quantum", with its well-directed action and chase scenes, kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire time. However, it was the quieter moments between Bond (still struggling to come to terms with the death of Vespa from the previous film) and the female lead, Camille, that made the movie for me. While some may be disappionted by this installment, I thought "Quantum Of Solace" was a solid and entertaining Bond film; well worth a watch.
Bond is Back, but Weak
When I started watching this movie in the theater I had no doubt it would be a thrilling, action packed 90 minute movie, just like every other Bond film. Daniel Craig is, in my opinion, the strongest since Sean Connery, and he really can pull off the role. However, it is only brainless action and the plot falls short. The Bond girl is not a true Bond girl, there is no romance. It's safe to say this is not the worst of the franchise, but it is really just a fast-paced thrill ride that lacks the charm, witty humor, and interesting characters in "Casino Royale." 5/10
