Plot Summary
In 1974, award winning film maker Tony Palmer followed Rory Gallagher and his band on their tour of Ireland. The subsequent movie was released in cinemas to great critical acclaim and has gone on to be accepted as one of the great rock films. Now for the first time the film has been lovingly restored and remastered from the original footage. There is a massive improvement in both sound and picture quality over the original film release and finally Gallagher fans can get to see the film as it was meant to be, capturing Rory, his music, the period and the place to perfection.

Fresh: "R" is not about justice or redemption. You couldn't even call it a protest film about prison conditions, but it is very well made and persuasively acted.
Fresh: The helmers employ claustrophobic closeups to mirror the experience of an inmate arriving at the harsh institution and finding his options limited by more than just locked doors.
Fresh: Directors-screenwriters Lindholm and Noer are careful not to let the audience know more than their protagonist does, keeping them in the nerve-wrecking state of uncertainty and fear.
Fresh: Who knows better about prison life than someone who has experienced it firsthand?

Irish Tour '74
I've been listening to this album for about the last 35 years. To see the actual film footage is a revelation. The world will not see the likes of Rory Gallagher again. Do yourself a favor and watch it again and again.
