Plot Summary

The deck is stacked with oddball characters and outrageous twists in one of the year's most hilarious and original comedies. Compulsive gamber John (Steve Buscemi) had finally beaten the habit, started a new life, and said farewell to Vegas for good… or so he thought. When his new boss sends him back to Sin City to investigate a shady insurance claim, all the chips are back on the table. Romany Malco, Peter Dinklage, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tim Blake Nelson, and John Cho complete a royal flush of an ensemble cast in this laugh-riot comedy that's loaded with high-staks temptations and low-down crooks.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: This disjointed, desperately whimsical film is simply not funny: not for a minute. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: With stars like Steve Buscemi and Sarah Silverman and big-fish producers such as Spike Lee and Stanley Tucci on board, you'd think this indie would offer some glimmer of wit or originality. Think again. – Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: First-time director and screenwriter Hue Rhodes shows no discernible talent for dialogue, humor and, especially, pacing. For a movie than runs a mere 85 minutes, Saint John moves like a life sentence in molasses prison. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Feb 2, 2011

Rotten: The oft-used ploy of forcing an odd couple into a car and sending them off to uncharted territory is trotted out yet again here, but to minimal comic or emotional effect. – Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Bleh

This movie was a mess. The characters in it are so lifeless and dull, that if they all vanished, no one would care or even notice. I would have to say that watching this film is probably very similiar to being raped by an invisible man; you have no idea what's happening, but you're in pain and just want it to end.

I liked it! Don't know why it's getting bad reviews...

Based on the reviews I was unsure, but I actually enjoyed it. Certainly not a big budget Hollywood production, but that's not always a good thing. I really have to disagree with most of the negative reviews. Its a decent flick worth the time and rental price. Give it try, don't let the reviews make your decision for you. You may be pleasantly surprised like I was. Plus it has a bit of decent twist! And also, Sarah Silverman's character is straight out the Progressive Insurance commercials, which was kind of funny.

not too bad!!

Ifs kinda dumb at times when it comes to sarah silverman, but its about a compulsive gambler, but if your lookin for an awakening of some sort or a sign it could help. I hate movies that put everyting in front of you and halfway through you already know the ending. Anything with Steve Buscemi is gunna b descent but entertainment wise its not perfect, but as a low budjet movie goes its not bad.
