Plot Summary
School's out and fun's in! Hot young stars team up with comic favourites Chevy Chase, Chris Elliott and Jean Smart for this kids-in-charge, adults-in-meltdown comedy that "packs the punch of a well-timed snowball, zinging straight for the funny bone!" (Chicago Tribune). An unexpected overnight snowfall has made roads impassable. And that means a no-school, no-rules snow day! For fifteen year- old Hal (Mark Webber), it's a chance to win the heart of popular Claire (Emmanuelle Chriqui) – or totally embarrass himself. For ten-year-old Natalie (Zena Grey), it's a chance to create something even better than a snow day: a second snow day! But to do that, she must stop Snowplowman (Elliott), the town's relentless, road-clearing fiend. Better watch out, Snowplowman. Because anything can happen on a snow day... and in this hilarious comedy, just about everything does!

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Snow Day fails both as arrested-development farce and as teen-age romantic comedy.
Rotten: Snow Day isn't for teens, it's for the kids who aspire to be teens.
Rotten: Chase is so dull in this film, he looks as if he's sleepwalking.
Rotten: The whole film seems pretty plastic, as if written by a computer.

Fun for Everybody
Chris Koch's Snow Day is nothing less than a childhood staple. Each winter, every school kid dreams and hopes for the arrival of a snow day, wishing for that early morning sparkle of white that whispers, "Today is a magic day." These days are like gifts from Jack Frost, offering freedom from the daily monotony of class and unexpectedly opening up the world to excitement and adventure brought on by a sudden freedom from obligations. It's a little wonder that one of the main characters believes that, "Anything can happen on a snow day." However, the film does not merely offer escapism to the school-bound child. At the same time, the movie explores the narratives of a teen in pursuit of his crush, a mother finding balance between family and work, and a father struggling to find a sense of accomplishment in his career. Together, these threads make Snow Day something that the whole family can connect to, offering a focal point for an evening of family fun.
