Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: 'Take Me Home Tonight' has just enough heart and retro party spirit to hold the line before familiarity breeds contempt.
Rotten: As a raunchy romantic comedy or an homage to the 1980s, Take Me Home Tonight is hardly worth a one-night stand.
Rotten: It, like, totally pains me to say this, but Take Me Home Tonight is a bummer.
Rotten: This low-powered, amiable, stunningly unimportant movie is essentially one long, noisy party (set in two houses).

Awsome
This is a great and very under rated movie. I recomend this movie to people who like 80s movies and comedy.
Super funny
Just get it. You'll see.
NOT AS BAD AS YOU MIGHT THINK
Like a lot of R-rated comedies these days, "Take Me Home Tonight" is a flick with a promising risque premise that never seems to push the boundaries of its script to the next level. I've always been fascinated by young adult films from the 80's ("The Breakfast Club", "Pretty in Pink", "Sixteen Candles", etc.), and I could tell that this movie really attempted to capture the magic and honesty of those pictures thus mentioned. And, to some extent, it did succeed with that goal in mind. Most of the characters were genuine and likeable, plus the dialogue seemed to be truly authentic and not cliched. Although, the plot could have been more built upon and, in my opinion, the movie didn't have to rely so heavily on throw-away pop culture references from the time period as the major source of its humor. However, even with the film's flaws, it still ended up being a simple, yet boisterous comedy full of minor laughs and major heart. "Take Me Home Tonight" may not be as memorable as the 80's flicks it tries to represent, but nevertheless, it's worth a good rent.
