Fresh: A labor of love coming to fruition after 13 years, this is Robert Duvall's third and best directorial effort, a sharply observed exploration of a preacher who embarks on a redemption odyssey after committing a crime.

Amazing and Awesome!
None of the movie studios would touch this script which Robert Duvall write himself and held onto for over twenty years. Finally Duvall financed it himself and used a lot of everyday no name people in the movie which makes it special to start with. This movie is well done with great music, scenary and a lot of heart, mist of all it has a powerful message and reminders for all who serve and all who are seekers. If you really "get" this movie you will make it part of your collection of inspirational tools. It has been a blessing to me for many years now.
Rich and complex!
While I cannot endorse all the theology of this movie it is a very moving picture that was a very special project for Mr. Duvall. The theme's of faith and moral failure combine in a powerful way that allows the viewer to question their own walk with the Lord. Watch this movie and watch it again.
The Apostle
Absolutely fabulous. It renewed my faith. For far too many years I've seen pastors do ungodly things. This picture reminded me that pastors are human. That God has a plan for all and we all end up where God wants us to be in the end. Hats off to Mr. Duval.
