Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: No matter how many times director Alan Poul tries lighting the fire, nothing ignites. – Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Lopez works visibly hard to keep things light, while O'Loughlin's flat performance suggests that he's either deeply uncomfortable or just struggling to hide his Australian accent. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Lopez, appearing in her first rom-com since Monster-in-Law five years ago, is still a likable screen presence who throws herself into the movie's slapstick sequences with unwarranted enthusiasm. – Lou Lumenick, New York Post, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: It shows us Jenny from the Block is still flawlessly beautiful, while proving the theory that Hollywood is working on its last and only idea in the romantic-comedy genre. – Linda Barnard, Toronto Star, Jun 24, 2010

NO....just NO.

I like JLo, she is fun and cute and lovable onscreen and she is a beautiful lady. But she was kinda boring in this, it was really bad and basically not funny at all. The guy in it is egotistical and not very attractive, and obnoxious in some scenes. To sum it up: Boring. Not worth your money. Not fun. Watch something else.

just plain dreadful

the writing was awful, he could not act and made every scene awkward and unbearable, they had absolutely no chemistry, JLo was actually boring in this movie, the dog was the best actor in the movie, and i wasted an hour and 44 minutes of my life.

Wait Until Thoroughly Cooked!!

Unfortunately this film decided that they didn't have to heed this warning and sent out the film as it was. TPTB didn't cut this film into what it could have been and tried to incorporate sex appeal, humor, and emotion without success. The premise of Zoe's story is so pointedly tossed out there as though the audience should know what the film is about, trailers and commercial promo not included, and hardly decides to give any back story into who the main character is! She wants a child cause "The One" hasn't appeared yet, and point blank-she's lonely. Enter "The One", Stan is a farmer and a night school student, and that's about as deep as the script took him. He acts realistically with the "plan" and then, suddenly becomes attached to Zoe&co. for no apparent reason given! Alex O'loughlin and Jennifer Lopez did the best with a story that needed to be revised and thought out a bit more!
