Plot Summary

Academy Award winner Linda Hunt narrates a day in the life of Sharon as she struggles with a recent divorce and a current perception problem. A visually stunning adaptation of Betty Malicoat's short story of the same name. Part live action, part animation, The Crooked Eye dreamily weaves between past and present, delicately painting a psychological portrait of a troubled woman.

A mental trip

Though I'm a fan of his political videos, I was hesitant to rent this. The CGI doesn't look all that exciting. But it doesn't matter. The acting and the story are what really shines in this film. It moves fast and takes a few minutes to get ahold of whats going on, but after that it gets deep. But it doesn't spoon feed anything to you, either. I was surprised by how touched I was at the end. Linda Hunt rocks! (God of War, so, yeah!)

So, my ratings:
Acting A++
Story A
Music A+
CGI C+

3 bucks? Way worth it.

A Surreal Gem

The Crooked Eye is a surreal short that beautifully captures the distorted perception of Sharon’s troubled mind. Director D.C. Douglas masterfully tosses us inside Sharon’s day as Academy Award winner, Linda Hunt’s narration and Sharon’s memories guides us through understanding her disconnected, depressed state. Fay Masterson does an outstanding job playing Sharon. D.C. Douglas has a small role as Sharon’s ex-husband, Frank but his true talent shines as the director and editor of this gem.

Exceptional Film!

This is an absolutely beautiful film, exceptional in both its storytelling and imagery. You will ultimately me moved...and changed.
