Plot Summary
Inspired, in equal measures, by Hurricane Katrina, Buster Keaton, The Wizard of Oz, and a love for books, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore is a poignant, humorous allegory about the curative powers of story. Using a variety of techniques (miniatures, computer animation, 2D animation) award winning author/ illustrator William Joyce and Co-director Brandon Oldenburg present a hybrid style of animation that harkens back to silent films and MGM Technicolor musicals. Morris Lessmore is old fashioned and cutting edge at the same time.

Heartfelt and Beautiful!!!
I absolutely loved this short. The filmmakers managed to create a bittersweet tale that touches on tragedy, hope and inspiration all with a graceful hand. Beautifully produced and animated with classic filmmaking sensibilities, this was obviously a labor of love. Great job Moonbot!!!
A wonderful story, beautifully told.
This short tells itself so well it doesn't need to be elaborated on. A beautiful piece that illustrates the cycle of author and reader, and the life that books and stories give everyone, even in the darkest of times.
Moonbot Studios! Hooraaay
Working on this short film was a blast! Collaborating with such amazing people, who put so much love and dedication into this project was extremely rewarding. The end product keeps me on my toes to see what Moonbot will come out with next. Great film!!!
