Plot Summary
Mark Wahlberg stars in Paramount Pictures' inspirational docudrama exploring the remarkable rise of Massachusetts-born lightweight title winner "Irish" Micky Ward. A determined pugilist whose career in the ring was shepherded by his loyal half-brother, Dicky (Christian Bale) -- a hard-living boxer-turned-trainer whose own career in the ring was nearly sent down for the count due to drugs and crime -- perennial underdog Irish Micky rebounded from a disheartening series of defeats to win both the WBU Intercontinental Lightweight title and the WBU Light Welterweight title thanks to a fierce combination of determination and hard work. David O. Russell directs from a script by 8 Mile's Scott Silver and Paul Attanasio (The Bourne Ultimatum).

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The Fighter is so muscularly and tenderly good because it trains its eye on the matches that take place between kin.
Fresh: Makes too many concessions to the Hollywood judges, pulls too many punches.
Fresh: A great boxing movie, a great film about family. Gritty, thrilling, inspirational. Deserves multiple Oscar nominations.
Fresh: [David O. Russell] brings heart, humour and humanity to The Fighter, and can always be relied on to bring brutality and truth to a medium where it is sadly a rarer and rarer occurrence.

GREAT GREAT FILM
This movie was one of the greatest films ive seen this year, it is somewhat predictable (especially if you watched the trailer), but enjoyed every minute of it. Its one hell of a knock out and if you want to just be entertained for 2 years with mark and bale, then watch this film, its story is strong, its acting is at its best, and the music is worth listening to. I think bale was one of the best actors to watch in this film and you get very connected with the characters from the beginning, if you like fighting, good story, or just want to see it because is for academy awards then i recommend buying it
A True Great Movie
One of the best movies I have seen in a long time! I recommend it to everyone who likes a little action, drama, and a bit of thriller. Id have to say, Wahlberg and Bale make a amazing duo.
Excellent movie
How the Kings Speech won an Oscar over The Fighter amazes me. Wow how exciting a guy who can't talk well so he gets an assistant, I nearly fell asleep.
