Plot Summary
Ambitious young New Yorker Beth (Alexis Bledel) wants it all: a good job, good friends and a good guy to share the city with. Of course that last one is trickiest of all, as Beth discovers when she falls hard for Tommy (Scott Porter), a handsome, young Wall Street hotshot. Just as everything seems to be falling into place, Beth meets Tommy's shy, clumsy co-worker Daniel (Bryan Greenberg) – and soon learns that the game of love in the big city is a lot like Wall Street – high risk, high reward … and everybody has an angle.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The Good Guy has a few half-cute moments, some chuckles, and enough pretty faces to cast at least two TV pilots. What it doesn't have is a clue.
Rotten: The Good Guy suffers from the dreary want of imagination about the specificity of twentysomething life that has sunk so many other specimens of this battered genre.
Rotten: It's network television drama, starring actors best known for their TV work and full of the petty gripes and mild worries of characters who really have nothing compelling to worry about.
Rotten: There's too little difference between the good guys and the bad guys in Julio DePietro's uninspired debut, a slickly cynical romance destined to be quickly forgotten.

Pretty Good
I thought that this movie was pretty good! It has its flaws, but all in all, I enjoyed myself. If you like romantic comedies, you'll be sure to like this.
grade: B+
I was in the mood for a romantic twist of a movie and this did the job. A chick flick, one to watch alone or with a gal pal. I didn't get too confused but it takes some thought at some points. I loved the ending! i'd say worth renting.
Also, any Friday night light's (tv show) fans, JASON STREET is the main characterrr!
Feeble in Comparison with the book
The Good Guy suffers immensely when compared with the three time New York Times best seller. Teh performances are mediocre and occasionally made me feel like crying from agony. Throughout this movie I felt as if I was stuck in a revolving door with five complete strangers who hate me, that is how bad it is. Bryan Greenburg occasionally would have a moment of brilliant performance and then the background music would cover up everything he was saying. The only character who stayed consistent throughout the piece was Aaron Yoo, who pops in every now and then to tell a joke then disappears without warning.
