Plot Summary
The clues are in, the chase is on, and the case of the century is about to break wide open in Disney's greatest little mystery in history! Let the creators of Aladdin and The Little Mermaid take you on an adventuresome journey through the cobblestone streets of 1897 London, where some suspicious "mousechief" is the suspenseful start to this thrilling musical adventure. Olivia, the brave daughter of a beloved London toymaker, turns to Basil of Baker Street for help with her father's disappearance. Basil's jolly assistant, Dr. Dawson, and loyal dog Toby lend a hand ... and nose ... as they sniff out clues through their charming miniature world. The final chase leads to Professor Ratigan (voiced by Vincent Price), a hard-hearted criminal whom Basil must outwit to save all of Mousedom!

Fresh: Small children may be afraid of some of the bad characters -- the Disney Studio's gift for creating really nasty bad guys means that they are scary -- but they will love the cute, brave mice and cheer their triumphs. Adults will enjoy the wit and style.
Fresh: It's a lot of fun.
Fresh: As usual with film noir, however, it is the villain who steals the heart and one is rooting for in the breathtaking showdown high up in the cogs and ratchets of Big Ben.

One of the best Disney films ever made!
Thanks, iTunes, for putting this up! The Great Mouse Detective is by far one of the best Disney animated films, though it's often overshadowed by the movies that came shortly after: The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, etc... All great films, but The Great Mouse Detective is a great film without the flash and razzle dazzle. It was one of my favorite movies as a child, but now that I'm an adult----and an ardent fan of Sherlock Holmes----I can tell you, that for people interested in The Great (Human) Detective, this is actually one of the BEST Holmesian portrayals available when it comes to animation style and the brilliance of the voice acting ... as well as the little tidbits tossed in that any lover of Sherlock Holmes will pick up on. I highly recommend kids reading the Basil of Baker Street children's books by Eve Titus if they're fans of the film.
A great movie!
As I launched iunes 7 on it's release day, I was hopeful and doubtful this movie that I've been looking for would be on here. But was I ever pleasantly surprised! I love this movie, start to finish. It was somewhat dark yet still fun, great animation and voice acting, and a cute story that will make you laugh for years to come. Definitely my favorite children's movie, and probably one of my favorites ever.
Good times....
I remember growing up, this was my now 20 year old sister's favorite movie of all time, the only movie she contiually watched besides The Nightmare Before Christmas and her own selective horror flicks. Something about it touched her. I love it too; the little mouse in it is adorable, and the whole Sherlock Holmes and Watson vibe is cute.
