Great plot
Story line is great. Not the average run of the mill horror movie that is being churned out.
shawn michael howard to the rescue!
Some movies are perfect for downloading on itunes, popping some corn and crawling into bed with your favorite, person, pet, or perhaps even, alone.
Kudos to Effie T. Brown for putting together a fine cast of people who can actually 'act' in a genre usually reserved for soap opera caliber actors.
In fact one rarely, if ever, will see more than one person of color in a horror film, in recent film history, so right on, Effie T. Brown and Company!
The majority of the cast of "The Inheritance" is comprised of accomplished and trained New York Theater Actors, including Novella Nelson, Andre De Shields, & Adriane Lenox, who round out the supporting cast.
Leading actor DB WOODSIDE (Henry) studied at Yale Grad drama. The film's Executive Producer and Star KEITH DAVID (Uncle Melvin) is a product of Juilliard.
First time helmer, Robert O'Hara is a celebrated New York Theater Playwright/Director , who has written for Martin Scorsese, HBO, won an Obie (off-broadway's version of a Tony), and received The Helen Hayes Award. He has an MFA from Columbia University. Effie T. Brown loaded all guns when she put her low budget film in the hands of seasoned professionals.
Golden Brooks is a beautiful, talented actress, but it is SHAWN MICHAEL HOWARD's understated performance, comedic timing, and effortless sense of comfort in front of the camera that keeps the film, fun and grounded in a much needed sense of reality.
Howard, an alum of NYU's acting program, also bears an uncanny resemblance to Spike Lee, except SMH is kinda hot.
His character Simpson steals every scene, in which he appears, and helps the audience take "The Inheritance" for what it is...a kitsch indie-horror movie with some laughs...rent...don't buy.
Dumb Plot
Looking at Golden was the only point of seeing this movie. Otherwise a complete waste of money. The ending sucked as well. One star for Golden. I should have just bought a poster. This was also the first movie I bought from iTunes wish I could get my money back.
