Plot Summary
Six months. Six novels. Six members. The Jane Austen Book Club takes reading the classics to new heights of passion in this romantic comedy featuring an all-star cast. When five women and one man get together to discuss the English writer's beloved novels, they realize the heartaches of Emma, Mr. Darcy and the Bennet sisters are not so different from their own. Finding comfort, wit and wisdom from the pages and each other, they discover that, in matters of love, all they need to ask is: What would Jane do?

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The cast alone makes The Jane Austen Book Club good -- though not great -- entertainment for at least the bookish moviegoers among us.
Fresh: Everyone is given their due and dignity in this funny, sexy, humanist film that, if it is a chick flick, gives the genre a good name.
Fresh: The episodes roll by in smooth progression, and the talkiness has the round, impassioned tones of readers ignited by fiction.
Rotten: Comfortable if unchallenging, watching this gentle, female-oriented film is a bit like curling up in bed with a book whose ending you already know. No alarms and no surprises.

Amazing Movie
If you like Jane Austen books you will love this movie. The Jane Austen books were interwoven beautifully into the movie and it was a seemless transition from the books to the characters in the movie. Overall, a great movie to rent for a Friday night Chick flick or to make your signficant other watch with you.
Wow!
This was a surprisingly good movie. I personally thought it was an original idea for a movie. Definitely a chick-flick, I think, but it was WONDERFUL!!
