Plot Summary
Amir is a young Afghani from a well-to-do Kabul family; his best friend Hassan is the son of a family servant. Together the two boys form a bond of friendship that breaks tragically on one fateful day, when Amir fails to save his friend from brutal neighborhood bullies. Amir and Hassan become separated, and as first the Soviets and then the Taliban seize control of Afghanistan, Amir and his father escape to the United States to pursue a new life. Years later, Amir – now an accomplished author living in San Francisco – is called back to Kabul to right the wrongs he and his father committed years ago.

Fresh: By the time it arrives at its final kite-flying scene back in the Bay Area, The Kite Runner has soared occasionally, but remains too grounded for its own good in the book from which it was supposed to spring.
Fresh: Visually arresting, politically controversial, perhaps its greatest virtue is its simple message of making wrong right.
Fresh: If The Kite Runner flies only to flutter and fall a bit, at least it flies for a while.
Rotten: There's something timid and tasteful about the filmmaking which struck me as pretty mendacious, in a story about a blood bond severed by rape and mended, a generation on, by a rather too tidy act of atonement.

Good book; so-so movie
If you have not read the book, then the movie will wreak it for you. Read the book first then watch the movie; trust me you will get the full emotion everyone is talking about. For all of you who have read the book: This movie does not convey the heavy emotion in the book. If you loved the book (it is excellete), then you will not think of the movie as highly as the book. Story side plots plots are missing (Amir and his mother, for example), and the plots that are in the movie do not hold the same emotion as the book does. For example, when Amir and Baba are planting tunips and Amir asks "have you ever thought about getting new servants?," Baba explodes at Amir with extreme rage and fury. In the movie, Baba calmly tells Amir to never ask that again.
Great movie but Sad :(
If you enjoyed the book , you will like the movie as well .
