Plot Summary

The Life and Death of Owen Hart chronicles the short but eventful life of pro-wrestling superstar Bret "Hitman" Hart's brother Owen Hart, May 7, 1965 – May 23, 1999. The film creates an intimate portrait of WWF star Owen Hart's wife Martha, their two children, and his popular career as a professional wrestler. The viewer gets to know the famous wrestler through watching him interact with his brothers, sisters, his children and his wife. Very much a quiet family man who desired only to have a "normal" family life, we see, as the film progresses, how Owen is trapped by his own success in the WWF, and by the famous Hart family wrestling dynasty. You cannot walk away from this engaging biography and not care about this man, Owen Hart, the reluctant wrestling star. Includes 45 minutes of 2009 interviews with Bret Hart and director Paul Jay.
