Plot Summary

Mark, Jasper and Lily are high school friends, now in their early twenties, reuniting on Halloween to experience the otherworldly costumes and sexual charge of the public celebration in San Francisco's Castro District. Unsatisfied with the spectacle, the trio wanders the city in search of ecstasy, and Mark and Jasper are forced to confront their secret sexual history--a silent past that Mark, who is gay, never got over, and Jasper, who is straight, never acknowledged. American micro-cinema meets the European art film, The Lost Coast is a haunting look at sexuality, repression, and friendship. Internationally critically acclaimed, the film premiered in competition at the South by Southwest Film Festival, and won best feature film at NewFest: the New York Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

Customer Reviews

I liked it a lot

I read the other two reviews, and got something completely different from the movie. For me, it was less to do with the plot, and more to do with the three main characters, their identity, and their relationship. Yes, it does have a slow pace, but it built a sort of tention until the ending. Most viewers probably won't like the ending, but it seemed more realistic than any other ending would have been. It's definately an indie film, so if you're a fan of Hollywood blockbusters, stay away.

If you enjoy watching paint dry you will love this movie. I think the director was in a coma.
