Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The film is remarkably oblivious to the fact that if the team weren't hell-bent on a championship, young moviegoers would be significantly less interested in its adventures. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Mar 9, 2009

Rotten: Those not yet wise to formulaic pablum are likely to enjoy this ice hockey kiddie ensemble comedy. But their older escorts might want to bring a novel and a flashlight, or a Walkman or portable television with earphones. – Desson Thomson, Washington Post, Mar 9, 2009

Rotten: Steven Brill, who has a small role in the film, constructed the screenplay much as one would put together some of those particleboard bookcases from Ikea. – Rita Kempley, Washington Post, Mar 9, 2009

Rotten: It must be said that this movie is sweet and innocent, and that at a certain level it might appeal to younger kids. I doubt if its ambitions reach much beyond that. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Take it for what it is

I have read numerous amounts of reviews from this so called movie critics, and have yet to think they have any intelligence. Look at Roger Ebert back when E.T. came out they gave it 2 thumbs down, but was one of the greatest and most popular movies of it's time. I enjoy this movie and all the other "kid" movies from the late 80's to mid 90's because it reminds me of my childhood and a better time. So the review that "at a cartain level it might appeal to younger kids. I doubt if its ambitions reach beyond that" is just an uneducated response IMO. Take the movie for what it is as a early 90's comedy for kids and just enjoy it like you did when gorwing up, hell pass it on to your kids now. Was never meant to have some deep philisophical reason behind it, which I think the critics over looked.

Come on, Guys....

I don't know why people are spending their time analyzing this film so much. Duh, it's not going to be great. Hello, its about a Pee-Wee Hockey team! I grew up watching this movie, and it may not be great, but it's for kids. Who don't care about quality cinema. So relax.
