Plot Summary
Brooklyn native Mike Manadoro (Kevin Zegers, Transamerica, Dawn of the Dead) has a dream…but he’s got to risk his life to make it come true. To afford tuition at a prestigious Manhattan university, Mike takes a job with the local mob boss (Titus Welliver, Gone Baby Gone, TV’s Deadwood). But as his assignments grow more dangerous, he learns the true meaning of loyalty when he gets some help from a very unlikely source. Featuring Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill), The Narrows is a gritty, real-life portrait of a young man torn between his traditional Italian-American neighborhood and the elite Manhattan world just across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Until it implodes with preposterous plot manipulations, The Narrows can be appreciated as the film equivalent of a reasonably palatable pasta dish concocted from a familiar recipe and served in a no-frills restaurant.
Rotten: The Narrows is too riddled with cliches reaching past Scorsese all the way to Cagney flicks to be any more effective than a mowed-down capo.
Rotten: Serviceably enjoyable, like cold pizza but little more.
Rotten: Francois Velle's local crime drama is so earnest, it feels unkind to tell the truth -- which is that we've seen this story, told in just this way, too many times before.

Great
Great mob movie. Only watched it because of Sophia bush! She did an amazing job:)
Enjoyable Movie despite Rotten Tomatoes Snark
I hesitated to rent this movie because of the rotten tomatoes snarky reviews about it being a rehash of stories done before. Eventually I rented it anyway, and am glad I did. Actors did a great job and the story was interesting throughout. Boo on Rotten Tomatoes reviewers who deride enjoyable entertainment!
Great film. Ignore rotten tomatoes.
It's a good movie and is dramatic but not too heavy. Perfect afternoon watch. I'm convinced rotten tomatoes ratings are BS and will never let them tell me what I should watch, instead I'll read user ratings which are typically more reliable.
