Plot Summary
Warwick Wilson is the consummate host. He carefully prepares for a dinner party, the table impeccably set and the duck perfectly timed for 8:30 p.m. John Taylor is a career criminal. He’s just robbed a bank and needs to get off the streets. He finds himself on Warwick’s doorstep posing as a friend of a friend, new to Los Angeles, who’s been mugged and lost his luggage. As the wine flows and the evening progresses, we become deeply intertwined in the lives of these two men and discover just how deceiving appearances can be. With outstanding performances by David Hyde Pierce and Clayne Crawford, cowriter/director Nick Tomnay takes us on a suspense-filled ride where nothing is as it seems. The Perfect Host is a slippery psychological thriller that exposes true human nature and reveals just how far we’re willing to go to satisfy our needs.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Not even Mr. Pierce's best efforts can make sense of a character who by the end of the film seems to be a completely different person with the same name.
Rotten: Pierce acts with an enjoyably testy flamboyance, but by the time he starts to imagine that his guests have arrived even though dinner's been canceled, the film has given him one loose screw too many.
Fresh: The dialogue is witty and spiked with delicious malice. At least it is when Pierce delivers it. It won't spoil the plot to say that he is pricelessly good at taking you places you don't see coming.
Fresh: A familiar horror/suspense trope -- criminals choose the wrong hideout, discover twisted residents more dangerous than cops -- gets entertainingly respun in The Perfect Host.

One of the most entertaining thrillers I've seen in ages
Featuring one of the most likable and engaging psychotics in movies in ages. David Hyde Pierce shines as Warwick Wilson and the flim itself is so well-constructed and well-acted that I was enthralled and truly surprised by a plot twist for the first time in a very long time. Definitely worth a watch.
trailer doesn't do this movie justice
i'm not one to write reviews, but this absolutely blew our minds, very smart, brilliant acting, laugh out loud funny, and then two seconds later uncomfortable on the edge of our seats....
it's not for kids, and not my in-laws either. highly recommend
