Plot Summary
Set in New Orleans at the beginning of the 20th century, The Princess and the Frog concerns a poor African-American girl named Tiana who has a knack for cooking, and dreams of opening her own restaurant. Her best friend since childhood is a privileged white girl whose wealthy father employs Tiana's mother as a dressmaker. When the friend's family hosts a party for Prince Naveen of Maldonia, Dr. Facilier, an expert in black magic, turns the visiting royal into a frog. The now amphibious Naveen convinces Tiana that a kiss will reverse the spell, and if she obliges him he'll provide the money she needs to open her dream eatery. However, their smooch not only fails to turn him back into a human, but transforms Tiana into a frog as well. The duo then sets out to find a voodoo priestess who can set everything right.

Rotten: The way she resists the fantasy formula is admirable, but ultimately (and disappointingly) futile.
Fresh: You can exhale now: The Princess and the Frog is a triumph on every one of the myriad levels it has been asked to succeed on.
Fresh: It's nice to know that the studio behind Cinderella can still cast a spell in two dimensions.
Fresh: The visual artistry of the song-and-dance numbers captivates.

A true classic.
I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this film, in fact, I didn't even make plans to see it. I ended up having to go see it for my little sisters birthday, so you can imagine what I was expecting. Well, while I was right and wrong about the aim of the film. While in fact a princess film, this reaches out to familys as a film with great comedic timing, top-notch voice acting, and a heart-warming story. I reccomend it to pretty much everyone one. It will definately lift your spirits.
WELCOME BACK DISNEY! FINALLY! A REAL DISNEY MOVIE SINCE ENCHANTED!!!!!
Once upon a time, there was a company called the Disney Company. It made beautiful hand-drawn movies with beautiful songs like Aladdin. But, then CGI came, HSM, JB, and Hannah Montana came...and destroyed the majesty of what Disney once had----and what the founder wanted. Until now! Ever since I watched the trailer the first time, I thought: IM SEEING THIS OPENING NIGHT! DISNEY IS BACK! I saw it the next day and wow: I loved every second of it! This is defentely going to be a classic someday. Awesome characters, great songs....and a very heartbreaking, unexpected scene at the end of the movie that turns to be beautiful.
However, I thought the movie missed some stuff that the old Disney movies had. I can't put my finger on one of them.
And to those who thought the voodoo was completely inapporiate in this movie, don't complain. I have seen soooo much worsrt in Disney movies (Ummm...hello, The Resecuers scandal anyone???) and theres voodoo b/c of the 1920s New Orleans theme. But it does go 2 far in the bad guy's defeat.
And the little firefly Ray??? My favorite character. In the trailers, he seems like a huge hick, but he isn't! Ray touched everyone's heart because of his sweet, adorable personality. What won me over is his traits, his songs, and his crazy, brave deed towards the end that---well you gotta see the movie to see what I mean!
Only 1 more thing to say: WELCOME BACK DISNEY! 4/5 STARS!
LOVE IT!!!!!!
