Plot Summary
Sandra Bullock is at her funniest in the fresh, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy The Proposal. On the verge of being deported and losing the high-powered job she lives for, the controlling Margaret (Bullock) announces she's engaged to her unsuspecting, put-upon assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds). After proposing a few demands of his own, the mismatched couple heads to Alaska, where they have four short days to convince his quirky family and a very skeptical immigration agent that their charade is real. Featuring a star-studded supporting cast, including Mary Steenburgen, Craig T. Nelson and the delightfully inappropriate Betty White, this madcap comedy will have you saying "yes" to The Proposal again and again.

Fresh: The Proposal is just a good old-fashioned romance, one in which people actually bring out the best in one another rather than the worst. How novel is that?
Rotten: It's impossible to guess why Bullock was ever attracted to this insulting role, and the eternally confident Reynolds is miscast as a young, bullied underling.
Fresh: Shamelessly derivative, contrived and predictable, The Proposal is nonetheless a crowd-pleasing romantic comedy.
Rotten: A mostly harmless, completely unsurprising romantic comedy.

i went to go see this with my friends and we couldnt stop laughing it is very funny and cute i loved it =] ryan renolds and sandra bullock are great together =]
Sandra Bullock...is...actually funny?!
Yes, it's been a while since we've actually seen Sandra Bullock in a successful movie, so skepticism is automatic when you first look at the cover of the movie. But I assure you that this is not time wasted watching this, it's funny and strangely heartfelt in the most unexpected ways. I'm not one for romantic comedies, since I'm a guy....but this one was a good balance, and the comedy was actually funny and not slapstick and not watered down for kiddos. Do watch if you miss seeing Sandra in a good comedy. I have a feeling another good Bullock comedy wont be in the future any time soon....catch her while you can.
LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!
I watched this with a couple friends and didn't think I would laugh as much as I did. This is a great date movie or just to be out with the girls. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds make a great team. Can't wait till it's out so I can buy it.
