Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The sometimes moldy legacy of Hammer Horror gets due tribute from Wake Wood, a preposterous but not entirely unprepossessing supernatural thriller partly backed by the newly resurrected scare shingle.
Fresh: It's a low-budget film that entertainingly takes its audience to the brink of pure absurdity. But it also riffs nastily and effectively...
Fresh: Nothing too groundbreaking but a compelling rife on creepily occult British horrors nonetheless.
Fresh: For all its pre-Christian paganism, demon child imagery, blood and guts, David Keating's rural horror movie is at heart an involving portrait of a young couple struggling to come to terms with the death of a daughter.
Customer Reviews
For horror fans that value creep over non-stop adrenaline.
Slowburn horror with great atmosphere, pacing and character development. It stumbled a little in the 3rd act, but for the most part it was an excellent movie. If you're a fan of Rosemary's Baby, Let Me In or The Omen then you will probably enjoy this film. Solid 4 stars.
awesome!
pretty good flick. well worth the 3.99
Do rotten tomatoes critics have eyes?
For real. I need to know who pays those morons to say a completely unoriginal rehashed rip-off film is good while giving truly unique and well done movies horrible reviews. I feel there has to be some kinda conspiracy at play. Either way, I'm gonna guess that if you're even looking at this movie you like horror movies (thriller, fantasy...whatever ya wanna call em.) Since you like horror movies, I'm also gonna assume you've seen Pet Semetary. This movie is a complete remake of pet semetary. The ending was even the same minus the implied knife to the head. The film makers were at least kind enough to make the child a girl and they didn't name her gauge. So you decide if it's worth it to ya. I would suggest skipping this crap and re-watching Pet Semetary. If you REALLY wanna feel like it's a new movie, just call Gauge by the girl from this movie's name. It might save ya the time. Also, I'm not trying to be rude but the review by "Unoriginal Hollywood" has confused me. Unless they're not just being clever with their name in which case, it makes sense...Comparing this worn out garbage to any one of the 3 films mentioned is an insult. Those movies were all unique, had style and atmosphere, and were all told with grace. The fact that they all had kids in them is not enough of a reason to degrade them by comparing them to this carbon copy of a film.
