Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: "The Whistleblower'' effectively depicts the paranoia that builds as an increasingly frustrated and outraged Bolkovac is thwarted at every turn.
Fresh: Director Larysa Kondracki's debut film is unsparing in its portrayal of sexual trafficking in a supposedly civilized world. But it's valiant, too -- especially regarding Rachel Weisz's performance as reluctant crusader Kathryn Bolkovac.
Fresh: Larysa Kondracki's first feature successfully avoids the major pitfalls of the activist docudrama: the main character's heroism never overshadows the larger issue at hand, nor does exposition gum up the storytelling.
Rotten: You come away from watching the film with a moral bellyache.

Really Good!
As many may disagree, I highly enjoyed it. Rachel Weisz's performance as Kathryn Bolkovac shows an amazing story!
Excellent must-see eye-opening, perspective-enlightening film
A well written, acted, and filmed portrayal of human rights violations in Bosnia and the unnerving revelation that the supposed "good guys" are the perpetrators. For anyone who wants to broaden their awareness of the complexities of international relations and the role of the UN. In addition to shedding light on an important topic, the film is absolutely spellbinding, gripping, and thrilling. Can't recommend this film highly enough. Like it? Check out "Puncture" too. And while you're at it "Enron- the smartest guys in the room" and "future of food." good make-you-think films.
Out of Control
Weisz is amazing. Why aren´t their more women in police work?
The movie makes one point very well. Once you subcontract police and security work it goes out of government control. The protection of citizens then answers only to the corporaions that hold the contracts. Naturally as profit making entities they act to maximize profits. Bad press is supressed, favorable results are exaggerated, and wiping out the competition, legitimate government law enforcement, the goal. And, as this movie shows controlling their behavior becomes virtually impossible.
