Rotten: Feels far too starched and clean to do its source material justice.
Fresh: A welcome blast of pop subversion.
Fresh: Richly satisfying entertainment the way movies are at their best, when they prod you to think.
Fresh: [An] enjoyable -- if occasionally irresponsible -- comic-book thriller.
Customer Reviews
Hugo is great in this...but don't rent... wait and buy!
The action scenes are very well done by the stunt man and the other characters are all well acted, but that's to be expected, since the cast is comprised of real actors, and not just a bunch of senseless movie stars. The real gem, however, is Hugo Weaving, as V. Hugo's theatrical background and camera presence gave the masked character such a humanity that the viewer does not dwell on what cannot be seen: V's face. The expression in Hugo's voice and the movements of his head and hands make the unmoving face come to life. The wit, wisdom, compassion and vulnerability of the character all come through, as well as his main message.... Watch, you'll love it!
Best Movie Ever.
V for Vendetta is my favorite movie of all time - it's thought provoking, thrilling, symbolic, suspenseful, and basically all-around amazing. Hugo Weaving's acting as V is brilliant, especially considering that he's behind a mask and therefore has to convey facial expressions through only his voice and his body language. If you've never seen this movie you definitely should. I very strongly recommend it.
Rent? Come on!
