Very insightful, interesting documentary
This documentary is semi in-depth look into the ushering in of the Disney Renaissance from 1984-1994 with Roy Disney bringing in Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg. It is very interesting because it looks into how Disney animation went from a joke or the stepchild essentially to a revolutionary company in a matter of ten years. I'm definitely watching it again because it is just so interesting. I feel like I definitely have a better grasp on who the characters were during this time of growth and tension.
Plus, I have a huge admiration and respect for Howard Ashman. I never knew or appreciated the amount of genius and artistry he put into Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin before he passed away.
Definitely a film checking out if you are or are not a Disney animation fan so that basically means everybody!
I feel the film is a great length, but could have had a few more details and stories added. I think Don and Peter should make another documentary about the next ten or fifteen years chornicling the fall of Disney animation starting with Pocahontas because I am very intruiged about that as well.
Disney Rennaisance
This is the ultimate underdog documentary. (PLus Where else can you get Tim Burton and JOhn Lasseter in one movie?)
Simply Stunning
This is the best film I've seen in a very long time. It is a must for anyone who's interested in the film industry. It's a well-told tale about how Disney Studios, the mecca of children's animation, became magical against all odds, and in the most unlikely of circumstances. The characters from the films are reflected in the hope and energy from the animation team. A truly inspiring documentary, I highly recommend it to anyone, anytime.
