Plot Summary
An ambitious young broker (Charlie Sheen) is lured into the illegal, lucrative world of corporate espionage when he is seduced by the power, status and financial wizardry of Wall Street legend Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). But he soon discovers that the pursuit of overnight riches comes at a price too high to pay.

Rotten: Wall Street isn't a movie to make one think. It simply confirms what we all know we should think, while giving us a tantalizing, Sidney Sheldon-like peek into the boardrooms and bedrooms of the rich and powerful.
Fresh: Stone's most impressive achievement in this film is to allow all the financial wheeling and dealing to seem complicated and convincing, and yet always have it make sense.
Fresh: Wall Street, in large part due to the timing of its release, became more than just a movie. It became a declaration of the moral bankruptcy infiltrating elements of society, and Gekko's words were an ode to that philosophy.
Fresh: All the performances are excellent with the emotional highlights including the father/son emotional angst between Sheen and his real life father Martin Sheen.

Entertaining
As an investor, I thought Oliver Stone did a good job trying to make it palatable to non-investors, while not making people who understand the trading side of things cringe too much. Toss in some 1980's charm, and it's very enjoyable. It's a cheesy film, sure, but definitely worth a look for those who think they'd appreciate it. The quote, though, is "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good." There is an important subtlety that seems to be tossed out, but reading the previous reviews, I can't help but think someone from 20th Century Fox is trying to drum up interest in the sequel. Speaking of which, what a shame they cast the kid from "Transformers", but it's Show Business, not Show High-quality-film-making.
Great film
A film for people who hate and love the worst in everyone. "Greed is good". People in the business say that a great film will leave you with a line of dialogue you will never forget. If they are right, Wall Street Strikes gold. The sets are amazing. Wardrobe is spot on. The cast is a dream team.
"Greed is good, now it seems thats its legal", will Gekko strike again with MS:Money Never Sleeps? ( Oliver Stone is directing the sequel )
Great, But Charlie...
It's a great movie, but Charlie Sheen is just a bad actor--very very bad.
