When I Rise
I saw this documentary tonight for the first time. I was truly, deeply moved not only by the beauty of Barbara Smith Conrad's voice, but also the beauty of her soul and her dignity and grace as a human being, If ever I might be asked, "What is it to truly be a human being?" I would point to this video and Barbara Smith Conrad's story.
I work in a mental health department, and plenty of people come in the door who don't believe in themselves, who have low self-esteem and don't see the great beauty and grace that is their heritage as human beings that exists inside of them. I intend to share the story of her life with many people. She is a teacher for us all.
A great American story.
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Inspiring story of a truly special person. It's a must see for all young and old.
Remarkable
When I Rise spoke to the very depths of my soul and heart. It is a true story of triumph and an example of an extraordinary human being with a timely and relevant message for us today. The documentary was exceptional in every aspect. Bravo!
