Plot Summary
The true story of one of the funniest videos of all time. A young filmmaker goes in search of the legendary “Winnebago Man,” and discovers the YouTube star living alone on top of a mountain, as sharp-tongued as ever, but more intelligent and lovable than anyone could have imagined. An outrageously funny and unexpectedly redemptive tale of one man’s response to unintended celebrity.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Adulation -- even barbed adulation -- is irresistible.
Fresh: At once scabrously funny and uncomfortably poignant...
Fresh: Whenever Rebney gets to be Rebney -- be it insulting, sweet or wearily perturbed -- Winnebago Man shows a full tank of irascible charm.
Fresh: Good fortune smiled on this film, but the feeling persists: This triumph belongs to Rebney, not Steinbauer.

Do Yourself a Kindness: Watch it!
I came upon the Winnebago Man video pretty late, but it didn't matter: It still hit me like a 36 foot Sunflyer coming down a mountain pass at full speed. But Ben Steinbauer doesn't just "find that guy from that video." What he eventually does - after some real resistance - is connect with Jack Rebney, a man who walked away in frustration from a career in one medium only to find himself an unwitting star in the next. There are some great moments in this film, plenty of laughs, a few surprises, and a s**t-ton of swearing. A documentary unlike any other, and yet a perfect example of what makes the format great.
"It's better to laugh than to cry" - Jack Rebney
Ok, this is coming from one of possibly millions to billions of people to whom have seen the Winnebago Man clip.
For the longest while now, because I couldn't attend the screenings, I have awaited this movie, and the waiting was well worth it.
It definatelly shows the shadow that was not exposed in the Winnebago Man outtakes, and it is amazing how bad one outtakes reel could make someone look until you get to know the real deal. It shows a side no one would believe be seen in Jack Rebney, and god bless him, for what he has put up with.
This movie does NOT disapoint whatsoever, you DEFINATELLY see Jack's infamous style of 'sense of humor' threw out the documentary.
Now actually in all honestly I have bought this movie 2 times now, one I ordered off online because no other retailer carried it, and Itunes, because I couldn't wait. I can say on both ends it was worth it, and to any fan who would love to see more of Jack Rebney and who he really is, A ADVISE you guys to check this out.
Truly one of the better documentaries I have ever watched.
I don't have much to say except that it was entirely unlike what I expected it to be, in the best way possible. Most people are familiar with the video of the angry man ranting about Winnebagos, but to actually find this person.. to see the same kind of fire and frusteration, but also the undeniable humanity and warmth of him. It's a reflection of all of us. In some way, it makes me feel better about the world as a whole. I found myself smiling through the entire third act, and anxious to write this review so that other people might be inclined to watch and experience it for themselves. Five well deserved stars.
