Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Underwhelming finish explains zilch, but good perfs, atmospherics and use of backwoods locations make Yellowbrickroad an intriguing cipher.
Rotten: The film is caught in the fatal demographic desert between the Scream and Baghead crowds -- neither funny nor quirky enough to sustain interest during its long march.
Rotten: "Yellowbrickroad" is without personality. It's competently made, but the cast and direction are just bland.
Rotten: Despite us tagging along the trail for days, we feel closer to the landscape than to the characters.

Absolute garbage
I was very much excited at the plot of this movie, after about 45mins however I could not believe how awful this movie was. Such a shame...
Has to be in right mood to enjoy it
This is a rather interesting idea for a horror film. A Depression-era mass disappearance of townsfolk in a dreary New Hampshire town inspires a writer, his wife and best friend to set up an expedition team to find the trail through which they disappeared. As they move into the forest, they are menaced not by strange visions, but by inexplicable music and sonic explosions which gradually drive the team members mad. The execution obviously leaves something to be desired but I was not bored with it. You need to stick with the premise and buy into the kind of realistic but annoying reactions of the characters, then it sort of works in the way some classic horror stories do. Sure gorehounds and FINAL DESTINATION crowds will be bored stiff but horror films come in many different colors and shades and I don't mind a moody, borderline-pretentious one like this once in a while. Well photographed and designed.
DUMB !
