No Sophomore Slump Here!

As beautifully made as Light On was, I was hoping for the storyline of that music video to be more relevant to the song, and for David to have acted in his own vid. Well, here we go! This one's ahh-ma-zing! Except for one minute concern - that the vid may have ended more poignantly if it had a tight shot of David instead of Sarah Roemer walking away - here are 3 things that make this worth your buck: 1 ~ He wasn't kidding when he said that he'd like to try acting as well. Those eyes. They say more than words can. 2 ~ Is it just me or does this rocker get prettier everytime we see him? 3 ~ THAT KISS. 'Nuff said.

Are You Insane? Go Back To Him!

All kidding aside...Come Back To Me, while featuring a very nice vocal performance, wasn't one of my favorite songs on Cook's album - but this video might just change that. The reverse motion, back-in-time twist lends an added dimension to the lyrics that raise it above a simplistic "if you love something, set it free" message, and there's some interesting symbolism here if you're interested in finding it. For a novice Cook does a fine acting job, and he clearly had to learn the entire song backwards for this to work, which is impressive. And no, it doesn't hurt that he's quite easy on the eyes. This one is several steps above most of the music videos out there today.

1000 x better than Light On vid!

This video exceeded my expectations...LOTS of David, rather than unknown actors, and the reverse concept actually fits the song rather than just for the sake of being "cool." Guy looks at himself in the mirror and realizes he didn't say goodbye the way he could or should have...he retraces his steps to that moment in the airport instead. Boy, don't we all wish we could do that re: some event in our lives; get a "do-over?" I'll admit there are one or two places where the mouth doesn't quiiiiiiite match up with the sound...but darn it what a pretty mouth it is! But overall, "Come Back To Me" - The Video shoots and scores and makes me LOVE the song!
