I did some research

I love the White Stripes, plain as that, and have for a while, They make great music! Now about this song CONQUEST , I thought the name and beat sounded familur so i did some research, no its not anything like vanilla ice did! LOL But anyway this is in fact a cover of the song CONQUEST by a girl named Patti Page. Now dont get me wrong,Im just letting others know, that its pretty cool of Jack to take an older song from the cruner and jazz eras and turn it into something familur but different.I think, unlike some other covers, this more interesting because the original had no guitar in it, and he just finds out what chords they used and then BAM! The White Stripes have one cool song! Thanks For Reading!

CoooOOOooonnnQueeeest!

this video is so funny! jack and meg rock it! very very funny and very very interesting...and endearing. you will definitely love this video. im not buying it though because itunes rips me off when it comes to videos...i end up getting half of it and then i have to buy it again...hmmm...maybe you should watch it on youtube...

Good but not Amazing

The White Stripes have always been about amazing music and Conquest is no exeption. Somehow they took an old latin song, added some metal and musical inovation, stuck it in a bag and beat in until it blead, and out poped Conquest. The song has a powerful White Stripes beat that you have come to expect, dark guitar that still rings clear even with a dirty sound, and as always vocals that add to the chorus and peirce through the song in short exiting bursts. This is a great song but not for everyone. If you don't like musical innovation or sounds that aren't part of the usual rock repatior then steer clear of the entire Icky Thump album. However if you can open your mind to these musical devices then this song is perfect for you. However the White Stripes have never been known for their life changing videos. Most of them are just mildly entertaining and this definatly falls into that catagory. The video portrays a bullfight between a bull (duh) and Jack. Nothing more or less for the most part. It is quirky and fun but not worth the buy. The video itself gets 3 stars but the song gets 5. Do yourself a favor and buy this song but if you want to watch the video then just go check it out on YouTube and save yourself a buck.

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

The White Stripes formed on Bastille Day in 1997, aiming to create simple, vigorous rock & roll with little more than Meg White's percussion and Jack White's guitar-and-vocal attack. Meg's drumming was deliberate and straightforward, while Jack's formidable guitar skills paid homage to garage rock, blues, and punk. A former drummer for the Detroit-based country outfit Goober & the Peas, he also displayed an affinity for American folk music, and the White Stripes took strength in the varied...
