powerful
This is a very powerful video. When I first saw it, I could not sleep from thinking about it. It has great cameraing (if that's a word) ominous lyrics, and it really plays on your mind. Don't see it if you don't wanna be scared by a video.
WOW

Nicely Done
Like many people, music resonates deep within my soul. It is when I listen to or make music that I feel most connected to God. More than any other popular cultural form, I find God’s voice in music. Different genres of music from rap to country to classical have the power to affect me. God’s amazing power to work through the secular seems to infiltrate the music industry. When I first saw the Kanye West video Diamonds from Sierra Leone I was elated to see the “celebrity credit card” being used for a just cause. When heard the story behind the video and West’s transformative experience, I sat in awe of God. West originally intended this project to show off his diamonds, fame and fortune to the world. He was discussing the project with someone who was outraged and educated him on the atrocities of the blood diamonds that fill our stores. A project designed from its inception to be boastful and arrogant, reveling in the excessive, turned into a powerful message about the realities of our world. In the world of ice, bling and grillz, West sent out a very countercultural message. His black and white video is filled with images of Jesus and child slave workers contrasted with the upper echelons purchasing diamonds carefree. This video undoubtedly stands in stark contrast to the other videos being played on BET, VH1 and MTV; it is one that cannot go unnoticed. West’s video has the power to transform culture by opening the public eye to the travesty of blood diamonds. Through this video God seems to be communicating that we need to wake up to the realities of societal sin.
