Bad idea on so many levels...

Out of all the songs from I Am... Sasha Fierce Beyoncé could have picked from to release as a single, this had to be the worst option. For starters, while there are several duds on the album, this is by far the worst track. The lyrics and music are awful; everyone knows she's singing about, um, *ahem* a certain part of the male body, and then instead of "p***s" says "ego", but it isn't even clever. Lady GaGa's LoveGame is about as full of innuendo, but at least her lyrics are somewhat more veiled and, if nothing else, less redundant. Secondly, as we all know, Ego is one of the tracks on the album exclusive to the deluxe edition. By releasing this as a single, it's essentially proving that Beyoncé was knowingly flipping the bird to everyone that opted for the standard edition of the album over the deluxe (few though that number may be). And it's not like it's even worth it, because, unlike Scared of Lonely, another deluxe edition exclusive on the Sasha Fierce disc, it isn't even a good song. If Beyoncé wanted to give her critics a good reason to get mad at her, this is it. At least she could've said it was worth it had she released Scared of Lonely as a single, because, in my opinion, that happens to be one of the better tracks on the album. Then again, perhaps Beyoncé is TRYING to have the Sasha Fierce single do worse than the I Am... singles. Broken Hearted Girl is the next single from the latter disc, and it's clearly the better song of the two (not that that's a hard feat to accomplish). If you recall, Diva, the previous single from the Sasha Fierce disc, was out-charting Halo on the Billboard Hot 100 until they killed all promotion on it, and pulled out all the stops for Halo. And of course, I'm sure her label was surprised when Single Ladies ascended to number one on the Hot 100 while If I Were a Boy, which had topped the charts in numerous other countries, stalled at #3. Finally, there's the actual music video for Ego. And it contains... wait for it... Beyoncé and two backup dancers performing a routine in a bland environment. Yes, it's essentially a rip-off of Beyoncé's own Single Ladies video. Unlike the Single Ladies video, however, Ego is unlikely to cause a worldwide dance phenomenon; the routine is weak and unmemorable, not to mention it doesn't go to an incredibly catchy number. In fact, Ego is barely danceable at all, which is odd considering it's on the side of Beyoncé's album that's supposed to be an all-dance extravaganza. Overall, this was a very poor choice of single and music video. But, if that was the goal, and to make the third Sasha Fierce single look bad so that it would chart poorly and the next I Am... single, Broken Hearted Girl, would chart well, then congratulations, Beyoncé, mission accomplished.

Beyonce is getting SOOO BORING!

I am... Sasha Fiere is by far her Worst album. Keep in mind that I used to be a HUGE FAN! Boring Songs All Black & White...getting boring and repetitive Same two dancers in Single Ladies,Ego,and Diva. If I were a boy is the Only song that shows her vocal ability! Better luck on your next album Beyonce.

Ego is too big!

This song is amazing and video is cool too regardless of what people are saying. How many people nowadays actually DANCE the whole entire video? Big budget with elaborate effects don't make a video amazing. Beyonce is a class act and this video makes a statement that simplicity can have a greater effect then all the smoke and mirrors. She's done all that before. This is something new for her and I love it :)
