Mr. Controversy's Back At It Again
This is the fourth single off of Kanye West's certified double-platinum album, Graduation. It features a very nice chorus from Dwele and some of Kanye's best lyrics. Some examples are "She don't believe in shooting stars, but she believe in shoes and cars" and "Hey Mona Lisa, come home, you know you can't Rome without Caesar". This song is about all of the emphasis placed on commercial items and the materialistic people in the world. The video, on the other hand, is sure to raise some eyebrows. It shows a model stop her car in the middle of the desert, and then walk away from it. She then strips down to her lingerie, and lights her clothes on fire. Next, she walks back to the car and opens then truck to reveal and bound and gagged Kanye West. Then, as the camera fades, she beats him to death with a shovel. This video supposedly shows how the life of the rich and famous isn't all it's cracked up to be and that it really is nothing to aspire to. I totally understand that part of the video, but I still feel that other parts were not necessary. The majority of the video is basically the moel wlaking aroun in her lingerie, which is kind of hypocritical to the message the song is presenting. I also feel that Kanye didn't need to be killed in the video, and that him being bound and gagged would have been enough. I think the reasoning behind the video comes own to the fact that Kanye wanted to draw attention and to stand out. This is definitely not the type of quality music videos we are accustomed to seeing from Kanye and is a bit of a dissapointment.
This is what the video is about is you don't know...
I understand now… She was the girl in the song… It was meant to be about what KanYe saw before he died im guessin… the flashing lights on the car… She was his girl… he cheated on her… told the story in the begining and started pleading with her in the end… the second verse is him tellin her anything she wants to hear… “Like Martin wit no Gena… You know you cant Rome without Ceasar…” And its just not gonna work… He got caught by the paparazi… she saw him in photos with a girl… “Damn! these n***** got me… I hate these n***** more than the Nazi’s…” Flashing Lights is dope… a scary story… a shocking video… i mean… wow… a shovel?
WOW
I asked for this vid yesterday and now its here!!! It's really a very interesting video if you get it. The woman is just focused on the celebrity life (or Flashing Lights, if you will) and gets rid of him because she doesn't need him anymore. Very creative. and this is coming from someone who wanted 50 to win.
