The Perfect Video

Devo's "Satisfaction" exemplifies the music video as an art in at least three ways. First, the video arrests the viewer; it shocks; it disturbs. It conveys the essence of the song, the band, and the band's vision of the world. Second, the structure of the video reflects perfect storytelling. It introduces the mutants of the band, the band's distorted interpretation of the Rolling Stones original song, and the application of that distorted vision to the lives of the band (and presumably the teenage mutants that followed it) in a crescendo (or, to use a Devo double entendre, a climax). Third, the video matches the pace of the Devo version of the song; in short, it rocks.

Please, please iTunes, please post all Talking Heads videos, Rush videos, and anything else you can dig up from the early (and only) days of music video.

Thankyou iTunes

Their music echoed this view of society as rigid, repressive, and mechanical, with appropriate...
