Criminally Overlooked Moment
As the lead single from Jody Watley's 3rd album, "I Want You" is the perfect introduction to the whole "Affairs Of The Heart" CD. The tracks smoldering sensuality provided an early template for Janet Jackson to follow on "That's The Way Love Goes." It also cameoed in the "Intro" track on En Vogue's multiplatinum "Funky Divas" album a few months later. Although it was a top five smash on the R&B chart, MCA just couldnt seem to deliver the same result on the pop side of things, letting this track stall at #61. Although the album managed a bigger hit with the follow up "I'm The One You Need," sales momentum had been lost for the whole project and its a shame as the albums singles have held up much better than many of the hits of the period that charted higher. Highly reccomended!!!!
