My Favorite Video of all Time
What else is there to say besides WOW! I mean, this video is incredible, adorable, heart-breaking, and just flawless. The video is partly animated with stop-motion- in other words, it is sorta like that show "Robot Chicken" where the toys somehow move. Now, this whole stop-motion process is no easy business, for it requires countless pictures of practically the same thing, long hours of set and prop design, and sometimes heated debate over what setting to use on the camera. I wasn't a part of the production of this video, but BELIEVE ME, for I have indured such chaos over this general process. Okay, Motion City Soundtrack's "It Had to Be You" video is pure magic. I say this because you are taken on somewhat of a journey with this charming little burlap-sack-lookin dude who has a wonderful relationship, (much like an amusment park ride) but when it ends, he is faced to cope with the sadness and loss of it all. I applaud Motion City Soundtrack for producing such a wonderful piece of work. Most bands ruin their songs because of their atrocious videos to go with it, but in Motion City Soundtrack's case, they could not have done a better job...
Do You Spend a Fortune on Those Late-Night Prepaid Television Scams?
First of all, if you are a Motion City Soundtrack fan, you know that pretty much everything they touch turns into gold. So obviously, this video was bound to be amazing. I was immediately interested as soon as I saw there was a contest with mtvU to create this video, and from the moment I saw Lauren's sketches, I knew it would be an awesome video. A few of my favorite things about this video: 1) The little burlap dolls - duh. They are so unbelievably cute, I can hardly stand it!!! The best part is when they are playing air-guitar with the frying pans, hands-down. 2) MCS, obviously. Between the creepy cut-out dolls of them (Matt's made me laugh until I nearly cried because the face was so funny) and them as the TV salesmen (oven mitts vs. instruments/Tony playing the drums with carrots was priceless), your day will be officially made. 3) THE RUBBER DUCKIES!!!! 4)The song. "It Had to Be You" is definitely one of the best songs on Even If It Kills Me, which you must have for me to consider you a friend. Happy watching!
Poptarts and Sex
One of their best songs, and I was honestly suprised, because I can't say I was really impressed by what was on Even If It Kills Me..This one was great! And the music video is so adorible! >w<...the cut-outs of the band are kinda scary when they smile, though..
