Minimalism Rocks

To my knowledge, most of this vid was done with CGI (though you wouldn't be able to tell if you streamed it with a slow connection). Everything in the setting seems so clean and simple that you expect Reznor to rip it at some point, and he kind of does. As the song crescendos, everything from a bowl of apples to a coffee cup starts to vibrate and sync up with the beat. To me, it never seemed to quite reach the strength of the song, and you think something more should have happened by the time the vid ends. However, the concept still works. Especially since Reznor's face is only shown smashed against one of those pin-needle office accessories, it gives the feeling of being trapped against some uber-serene environment--after all, he's "becoming less defined" even as his face moves in and away from the needles. Overall, I've gotta say, office accessories never looked so hip as when backed by "Only." Matches perfectly with the song's techno influence. Worth the $2, plus it probably looks cool on an iPod video.

Closer

Where the f**** is the greatest video the world has ever seen- Closer?? There are plenty of great videos by this band, but I do not see their best. C'mon, iTunes.

Only fact

The only thing that is real in the video is the apples in the bowel. Everything else is CGI. Pretty cool huh.

It isn't really accurate to call NIN a group; the only official member is singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Trent Reznor, who always remained solely responsible for NIN's musical direction (he was, however, supported in concert by a regular backing band). Unlike the vast majority of industrial artists, Reznor wrote melodic, traditionally structured songs where lyrics...
