They make songwriting and recording brilliantly unique.
Incredibly intelligent lyrics, instrument handling and songwriting. That's what makes this band so damn unique. They make songs simly brilliant. I love this band. And if you ever get a chance to see them live. Do it. Even if you're unfamiliar with their work, just go. And as great as there albums are (and they're all 5 stars, just check it out), there live versions of the songs have ten fold the energy. You'll be blown away. So up the quality of what you listen too. Buy any album. It simply won't matter where you begin.

Although formed during the post-punk revival of the late '90s, the National took inspiration from a wider set of influences, including country-rock, Americana, indie rock, and Britpop.
