Customer Reviews

Don't leave a review if you didn't even buy the video!

Ignore reviews that give a video 2 stars just to poo-poo the PREVIEW to the video! This music video is one of U2's best simply because of what it represents: the impact of U2 on a time and place that was COMPLETELY theirs. In the late 1980's, it was virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get tickets to any U2 concert because of their enormous popularity in the US. At the height of their success, U2 decided to try something that has not been (and probably could not be) done in the same way since... they packed up all of their gear, lugged it to the top of a low-lying rooftop in the ghetto, and just started playing "Where the Streets Have No Name" with multiple cameras rolling. What followed became this music video. Crowds gathered in minutes and choked off the streets in all directions; The police were called out to handle the situation but were in way over their heads; Bono keeps going while the band managers hold off the authorities as long as they can, and the video ends with the whole band seemingly being taken away... absolutely priceless. Sure, the preview may not do it justice, but really... if you did not buy the video... DO NOT LEAVE A REVIEW FOR IT.

Best Band Best Song Best Video

this by far one of their best videos and captures U2 at their best.

One of the greatest!

This is one of the greatest music video documentaries I have seen. I first saw it back in the 80's and loved it! It was before U2 went into the great expanse of techno pop commercialism!

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Through a combination of zealous righteousness and post-punk experimentalism, U2 became one of the most popular rock & roll bands of the '80s. They were rock & roll crusaders during an era of synthesized pop and heavy metal, equally known for their sweeping sound as for their grandiose statements about politics and religion. The Edge provided the group with a signature sound by creating sweeping sonic landscapes with his heavily processed, echoed guitars. Though the Edge's style wasn't conventional,...
