Huh?

A lot of great songs here, but the rock section is pretty woefully selected. How does any look at '80s Christian rock and pop not include the biggest bands of that decade? No Petra, no Whiteheart, no REZ, no DeGarmo & Key? Seriously? I applaud the inclusions of DA, Charlie Peacock, Steve Taylor and Stryper, but this collection focuses far too much on the bland synth-and-croon style that appealed to Christian adults in the 1980s, not the New Wave and rock/metal acts that actually made up the majority of Christian pop and rock acts from that decade.

Missing a lot of key songs and singers

This isn't a good introduction to Christian 80s rock and pop. It leans more towards adult contemporary and worship. It's glaring that no songs from White Heart's "Freedom" were included, as that was one of the best CCM albums not only of the eighties, but ever. Also missing are artists like Geoff Moore and the Distance, Rick Cua, Margaret Becker, Mylon Lefevere, REZ, White Cross, Holy Soldier, Allies (from which lead singer Bob Carlisle went on to record Butterfly Kisses), DC Talk, and others.

Some of the entries do capture the era well, like Carman. But some incredible bands have languished in obscurity: Flock 14 and Ruscha are two. This list is good if you like the more worship-based CCM.

awesome

This collection just floods back memories of my childhood. Some songs I loved and songs my mom loved. This is one of the best definitive collections of 80's christian music. Twila Paris, the Imperials, and even Steve Taylor! I almost forgot about him. Truly awesome.
