Chutes Too Narrow has some of the most complex and beautiful melodies I've heard released in the last couple of years, yet it's effortlessly executed and ends up sounding like a record you've owned since '87. Damn."

Somehow, i feel like the fun has been knocked out of making, buying and selling records. I'm not sure when it happened or why it has become this way, but I know a lot of people feel the same way. Buying, owning and listening to rock and roll music used to be breaking the law enough in and of itself, to be fun. But now, since the music business has become so damn serious and predictable, and albums have been overpriced for so long, 'kids' often get more rock 'n' roll out of GETTING the music (stealing it etc . . .) than from the music itself. I never blamed people for downloading music. I've just wondered why nobody has come up with a way to buy downloaded music. That's where iTunes has saved my little music world. iTunes offers us a way to download music quickly. Sonically it's great, and i can download song by song, on impulse, and it goes straight to my iPod. So I started buying and listening to music again. Basically, when i go on iTunes i really never know what i'm going to come away with. I just browse and listen to as much as i can. I'm a born again music listener.

Here's my Christmas mix tape. It wasn't tested on laboratory animals. I actually downloaded the whole thing first and listened to it myself to make sure it was a good one before I posted this list. I'm kind of intrigued by the institution of the holiday album. Yhe nature of them is that some kind of horrible deadline is usually put on an artist to make their compulsory holiday record, and they have to crank out Christmas cheer damn fast. And probably in the middle of August, in time for winter release. Somehow something cool usually comes out of it, since nobody has time to think about what they're doing . . . except for the Carpenters. Listen to that one. That's the overachiever Christmas track. I picked mostly stuff from the '60s for some reason. Just seemed more Christmas-like to me. I nearly just posted the entire Jim Nabors gospel Christmas album for those who really want a white Christmas. But I thought better of it and here is my wintery mix tape. Happy holidays.

I <3 Ben's taste in music

He writes amazing music and it turns out he listens to some great stuff as well.

Queens to The Streets to Cake makes great tunes to road trip to, and for those that have forgotten or haven't heard them it is great to see them on this list.

Topping it off is the Christmas selection, I have always had a special place in my heart for good Christmas music and Ben delivered with Carpenters and Cyndi Lauper in outstanding versions of classics I had never heard.

Thanks Ben... even if I am 5 years late to review it ;)

So pleased

I am so pleased to see Mr. Ben likes 10cc. I have a new music theory that I'm testing which says all music emanates from Ben in both directions and to test this I made a compilation music list called "In the Company of Ben". Two songs from this Born Again list are on my list. 10CC and the Shatner/Folds version of Common People. So far my theory is working out very well. It's not that Ben does things that haven't been done before, its just that he does it so perfectly. I can hear all of music's wide and varied history in a typical Ben album.
