Black Rebel Motorcycle Club didn't lift their name from a Marlon Brando movie simply because it sounds cool. That's just how they roll — like The Wild One extras, cloaked in black and kicking up dirt as distortion boxes explode (jittery Jesus & Mary Chain allusions like "Spread Your Love" and "Rise or Fall") and acoustic guitars transform into axes (the prickly subtleties of Howl and its haunting pair of postscript EPs). All in the name of saving rock 'n' roll, the "new religion" B.R.M.C. converted to amid the hallelujah haze of "Whatever Happened to My Rock 'n Roll." No wonder why Oasis' Noel Gallagher tried to sign them: these guys are the real deal, wandering around back alleys and lonesome roads with guitars slung to the side and beat poetry in their back pockets.

Pretty Much Spot On...
If I was going to introduce someone to BRMC, this is a pretty darned good 15-song playlist to break them in with. One very minor quibble: I would love to have seen "Mercy" on there somewhere. Take my word for it--it is one of the most poignant and beautiful songs written in the last ten years. Alas...you can't have it all, so plunk down the coin to get these fifteen songs, and then drop the extra 99 cents (or $1.29) and pick up "Mercy," as well.
underrated Band
good choice of songs to introduce the band. I'm an old Zepp fan from way back - These guys rock
