3. "Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars)" by Stan Getz: "One listen to Stan Getz' tenor sax, and you're hanging in Rio on Ipanema Beach . . . and that TONE!"
5. "Teardrop Butterfly" by Praful: "A beautiful song from this sax/flute artist who we signed to our new record company, Rendezvous . . .Praful has taken instrumental music into a whole new direction with this CD, and we couldn't be bigger fans!"
8. "Something" by Musiq Soulchild: "When I was making my latest record, Saxophonic, I was listening non-stop to Musiq's Juslisen CD (which I adore), and came across this gem which comes late in the album . . . his clever take on the Beatles classic . . . dig the loooooong fade."
9. "Dad's Room" by David Benoit: "David wrote this song after his dad passed away — he told me the story of how his dad had this room when they were growing up, filled with all of his 'stuff.' I guess it was a special place for David and his brothers. Well, to pay musical tribute to his father, he used that room with all of its contents and smells and artifacts as inspiration, and thus came this song 'Dad's Room.' It's emotion-packed . . . and no one gets me on the piano quite like Benoit."
12. "The Surest Things Can Change" by Gino Vannelli: "Say what you want, but Gino was the MAN! And yes, he had a lot of hair. His 5 o'clock shadow was more like 10am shadow. But still to this day, I listen to these old records and am amazed at that voice . . . the drama, the huge sound, the excitement of the tracks . . . those guys were doing some heavy lifting back then . . . it's still inspiring me."
13. "Just the Way You Are (Live)" by Diana Krall: "Can't do a chill out CD without a little Diana. Sorry . . . it's not my nature to exclude her! This is a really great version of the Billy Joel song recorded live in France."
14. "Isn't She Lovely (Remix)" by John Stoddart: "he cake is baked and this is the icing! John Stoddart is a new artist on Warner and is so immensely talented . . . he recorded this version of the Stevie Wonder song for the Golden Slumbers: A Father's Lullaby CD we put out last year. He sang the vocal in the studio with his little daughter in his lap, so you can really hear how tender the performance is — a perfect way to wrap up this set of music for a quiet mood."
