Customer Reviews

Good, but seriously...

buy the whole thing, just for "The Grand Conjuration". Opeth is truly magical, on EVERY ONE OF THEIR SONGS.
Check them out if you appreciate true musician-ship

Missing a few things

Where's Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds? "Red Right Hand"? "Loverman"? "Up Jumped the Devil"? All three of those are at least arguably about the Devil or Demons. Plus, they just sound the part.

Not bad...Not bad at all.

It doesn't quite work as a cohesive album. Someone of pretty much any taste and fancy will find enough poor music here not to buy the whole thing. If you're in the mood, though, it's a great resource for buying a few devilishly good songs, and, of course, a few devilishly bad ones. I would recommend The Number of the Beast, by Iron Maiden, Sympathy for the Devil, by the Rolling Stones, Cross Road Blues, by Robert Johnson, Way Down in the Hole, by the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and The Devil Cried, by Black Sabbath. Praise to iTunes for the scale and scope of this Essential, also, and just for doing something like this in the first place.
