Yes, this is goth music people.

People seem to forget that Goth music was a post punk movement in the late 70's, and Robert Smith, Peter Murphy (of Bauhaus), and Siouxsie Sioux are basically the "Godfathers" of this genre.

Of course, most people think Goth music is Marilyn Manson. Marilyn Manson is shock rock, and he's typically political. Goth music is more art than politics. And Nine Inch Nails, another band that people mislabel as Goth, is more industrial than goth. Trent took early 80's Depeche Mode's industrial soundscape and made just made it even less wholesome.

Anyways, Siouxsie & the Banshees and Echo & The Bunnymen are both amazing bands and deserve to be looked into beyond just this compilation. I recommend the albums "Tinderbox" and "Ocean Rain".

Why Joy Division is included is beyond me. Ian Curtis is rolling over in his grave.

True Goth Club Collection

This collection could have been taken from the set list at original gothic clubs Release the Bats and Helter Skelter back in 1986. This is a wonderful collection of true goth dance songs. Its hard to imagine that these pleasant sounds were actually what us "crazy looking" goths listened to back in the day, but this is it...the real deal; way before the mainstream got a hold of it and crammed pulsing beats of fusionwave and techno into the style. The wonderful memories it brings back of dance clubs filled with flowing dresses and a ballet like waltz that swirled around the dark rooms. This is a True Goth Club Collection!

This IS Goth

This is Goth from then and now and if it doesn't fit perfectly with the Goth title there are closely linked genres including Post Punk, Darkwave, Industrial, and so on. So please go on Wikipedia and check out the artists and see their history and I think you will understand the Goth ties to this underground movement.
